Resistocoat WD Water-based Epoxy Coating Data Sheet

Description:Resistocoat WD Water-based Epoxy Coating is a two part dispersed epoxy coating. It contains no solvents, therefore it is odour free. WB Epoxy Coating is also non-flammable and is also suitable for application onto damp surfaces. WB Epoxy Coatingis suitable for use as an adhesion promoting primer to dense concrete surfaces such as power floated concrete in a wide range of locations such as dairies, abattoirs, food preparation areas, and factories. The cured material is non-toxic and is suitable for use in contact with drinking water and foodstuffs.

Typical Usage:
Production Areas Food Production

Surface Preparation
The substrate should be sound with a minimum compressive strength of 25 N/mm2 and a minimum pull-off strength of 1.5 N/mm2. The surface must be clean, dry and free of contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease, coatings and surface treatments. If in doubt, apply a test area first. Concrete substrates should be mechanically prepared using vacuum enclosed abrasive blast cleaning or diamond grinding equipment to remove laitance and previous surface treatments leaving an open textured surface.

Mixing
Pre mix the coloured component BASE and pour the contents into the CURING AGENT container and mix thoroughly by mechanical means until uniform colour and appearance is obtained. The mixed material may be thinned by the addition of up to a maximum of 10% by volume of potable water on the first coat only.
Do not mix by hand.

Application
Apply by brush, roller or airless spray onto the prepared surface at a nominal rate of 0.125 to 0.165Kg / m2 per coat, equivalent to a dry film thickness of 100 to 150 microns. A minimum two coat treatment is recommended, applying subsequent coats after a minimum interval of eighteen-hours curing. Ensure good ventilation after application, as this speeds up the physical drying stage of the curing process. Should a heavy non-slip finish be required, a suitable aggregate should be scattered onto the first coat of the WB Epoxy Coating whilst still wet. The following day, any excess aggregate should be swept from the surface using a clean brush prior to application of the second coat. A further coat may be required to obtain an even finish. The ambient temperature of the works area should be a minimum of 15°C during the application and curing period, if not adhered to, this can affect the colour and appearance of the system. Materials and substrate temperature must be above 10°C.

Coverage
Resistocoat WD WB Epoxy Coating approximately 6 – 8m2 per Kg at an approximate d.f.t. of 100 – 150 microns per coat. WB Epoxy Coating SR approximately 5 – 7m2per Kg at an approximate d.f.t. of 100 – 150 microns per coat. Coverage is dependent on surface profile, texture, porosity and substrate temperature.

Storage
Store in dry conditions at temperatures between 10°C and 30°C. Do not expose to freezing conditions. WB Epoxy Coating has a maximum of twelve months shelf life when stored in the original, unopened containers.

Health & Safety
Wear gloves and goggles. Wash off splashes immediately with soap and water. Please refer to Material Safety Data Sheet for additional information. WB Epoxy Coating shall be applied strictly in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Specific installation advice can be provided upon request.
Limitations
Do not apply to wet or uncured concrete surfaces. Do not apply at temperatures of 10°C or less.
